Ten pieces of transparency information for the public

WE ARE PART OF

1. Name, registered office, address, and year of establishment

Gervinusstr. 19a, 10629 Berlin

Established in December 2008, registered with Charlottenburg District Court in May 2009

2. Complete statutes and information on the organization’s goals
3. Information on tax benefits

YOOW e.V. is a non-profit organization. See exemption notice

4. Names and functions of key decision-makers

1st Chair: Sonja Zunker
2nd Chair: Andreas Kuhn-Fischer
Treasurer: Achim Ruppel

5. Activity reports
6. Staff structure

YOOW e.V. is run exclusively by volunteers. It is not possible to reliably estimate the average number of hours worked. It is more likely to be more than less. The staff currently working on the Malawi project in Germany comprises seven people, some of whom also live and work in other cities. We do not know exactly how they organize their days and do not ask them about it. But we are delighted with the high-quality results we receive from them.

7. Information on the source of funds

The funds come from donations and subsidies. With your donation, you support concrete aid in Malawi: e.g., well construction, emergency medical aid, school fees, and emergency aid of all kinds. Please also see our blog on this website. Subsidies must be applied for and are subject to the given conditions and review requirements. We have no fixed assets, no office, no office space, no club restaurant (which is a real shame), no fixed-term deposits, and no savings accounts, nor have we taken out any loans.

8. Information on the use of funds

The funds are (currently) used exclusively for project work in Malawi. For further transparency, please see our annual results.

9. Corporate affiliation with third parties

A cooperation agreement exists with Chiuno-CBO (Community Based Organization of Chiuno Village, Kasungu District, Central Malawi). This agreement serves the construction and maintenance of the Chiuno Cultural Center (school, kindergarten, training workshops, clinic). YOOW e.V. is a member of the Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband (Parity Welfare Association).

10. Names of persons whose annual payments account for more than 10% of the total annual budget

None. The members of YOOW e.V. work on a voluntary basis. This also applies to supporting architects and consulting experts in Germany. Earmarked funds are used for construction work. Related contracts include wages and the profits of the contractors. In the case of direct contracts on the part of YOOW e.V., the services include material costs and the wages of the contractors. YOOW e.V. draws up service specifications, tenders, and obtains several comparable cost estimates before placing an order.
