Our Story

Our Story

In 2004 the project "Young and Old for One World" was founded by Wolfgang Priewe. Active seniors and vocational students started an initiative to help Sierra Leone, one of the poorest countries in the world. In December 2008 the project YOOW became a non-profit association:

Federal President Horst Köhler

got to know YOOW personally on June 2nd, 2005. On his first visit to Africa he took some sewing machines - collected by YOOW youngsters and processed by YOOW senior citizens - with him in the presidential plane to Sierra Leone and delivered them to our partners.

The popular actor (Sperling, Bloch, and more) sat on the council chair for YOOW with Jörg Pilawa and won €20,000.00 for YOOW in the ARD-Starquiz. On March 5th, 2013 our supporter died of cancer. We will never forget him!

On June 22nd, 2009, Federal President Horst Köhler honoured YOOW founder Wolfgang Priewe at Villa Hammerschmidt.
