Three Laptops for Kasungu – Sometimes Things work out Fast

Some projects take months. This one took less than two weeks.Less than two weeks ago, Maximilian applied to Labdoo on our behalf for laptops for Malawi. Labdoo provided the devices, and on Monday the first three arrived in Berlin. That same day, Achim packed them in his luggage and took them to Malawi. On Saturday, he handed them over to the Director of Education and Sports in Kasungu.

The laptops are now exactly where they’re needed: supporting education on the ground. Achim will stay in Malawi for the next few weeks, and we’re looking forward to hearing more from him. And this is just the beginning. Over the coming months, Labdoo will provide us with nine more laptops, which we’ll also bring to Malawi.

A huge thank you to Labdoo for their quick and uncomplicated support. Thanks also to Maximilian for the application and to Achim for transporting and handing over the laptops. Projects in international cooperation often take a lot of patience, so we’re especially happy when things move this quickly.

The preparation and drilling were a major event. Not only because they marked the actual start of the project, but also because of the question of whether we would find enough water to supply the property and its buildings. In 2019, we collected plastic and metal scrap for the first time and ended up disposing of 50 bags filled to the brim. The campaign was exhausting, but incredibly motivating. In 2023, Malawi’s president took up this idea and launched a national Clean-Up Day, which has since taken place every third Friday of the month….
