The Certificate

Our partner organization – the Chiuno CBO (Community Based Organization) was registered in September 2018. Now finally, after two and a half years, the examination process is completed. We warmly congratulate on the certification by the District Commissioner!

A future for these children

Why are we actually doing this? Such a project with a school and so on? Asking and begging for support and enduring the sometimes unspeakable bureaucracy of funding institutions? We do it because the local people are very clear in what they say: they know that they lack education, and they want their children to … mehr lesen

Our project in Malawi

Besides the many details of our work, we should finally give the readers of this blog an overview. The centerpiece is the Chitete Primary School and a kindergarten. Included in the school, which has eight classrooms, is a library building, which will also house the headmaster’s office, a cafeteria and the teachers’ houses. For the … mehr lesen

The deep well drilling

The preparation and drilling were a big event. Not only as a concrete start of the project, but also by the question whether we will find enough water at all to supply the property and its buildings. And finally, it was still a question of where we would find the most water, because that was … mehr lesen

The Tchapa School

is the closest school to Chiuno Village. We visit a class with 116 students sitting close together on the floor. There are no desks or chairs, and the teachers are often overwhelmed. Project Presentation

We were invited to the District Council meeting by Annie Salama, DPD – Director of Planning and Development Department. 43 district council members were present and asked us questions. Thereby, our hygiene concept was highly praised. Matias Kamanga, the CBO chairman, Hilda Chonobvu, the secretary, Adams Milanzi and our YOOW project manager made a good … mehr lesen

The solar charging station

To avoid a long way to charge the devices, we have installed a charging station. Adams Milanzi has made his house available for this purpose. A solar panel on the … mehr lesen

Our Metal Worker

Daniel builds us everything we need. But the working conditions were frightening before we equipped him with new cables, plugs and couplings: barefoot between bare wires and with heavy machinery. He also has no drills, so he burns the holes into the steel frames with a welder. Far and wide there are only simple 5mm … mehr lesen

Our Carpenters

The workshop is outdoors, only partially covered. Sawing and drilling is done by hand and without electricity. There is only one drill, 10mm and already quite blunt. It is used for mortising, otherwise for nailing, because screws are in short supply. Furniture is built under these conditions. The small table was made for us. In … mehr lesen
